September Wishlist! ♥

Saturday, 27 September 2014

Hello cuties!
This is a post that I personally feel is long overdue because there are only a few days left of September, but due to my hectic college timetable and pills of work to be done, i'm barely able to find time to write up these posts. It's friday today and I've gotten all my work from this week done early enough to be able to make this post.
Here are all the things that I've been lusting over for the last month~
I need to find money for all of this!

And that's all! Haha, Sorry this is such a short post, I'll do better next month (especially during the half term), promise!

I hope everyone had a great friday!
Until my next update, it's been~

Minae's life 05 ♥ Become Legend!

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Time for an update on Minae's life!

*The 'Minae's Life ♥ ' series is a segment where I (minae) post about myself, and my life, to put it simply.
Please read it and enjoy my "blog" posts ^^

I caught a cold recently..
It's the start of the autumn season~
It's the time of year where I get ill because I'm freezing cold and boiling hot at the same time!
Recently, I've finally gotten into the routine of getting up for school figuring out the lesson plans.
It's been really stressful
but I got through!

I have a four hour gap in between my lessons.
It sucks!

It's a waste of money to go home and come back, so I go to the shopping center
and sometimes the arcade!

My business studies class is really fun~
But there are so many guys in this class!

Only 5 girls in a class of 29 students!

As someone who came from
an all girls school

this isn't something that I'm used to..
being around boys all the time
its weird right?

girls who went to an all girls school may understand me.

I'm fine though, I like talking to them, they're all friendly
And I can relate to them too!

With video games

The were shocked when they found out I liked playing games
they were like
"but you're a girl"

does me being a girl make it weird?
apparently so!

Speaking of games,

last week....

....

I bought..

...

....

That's all for now~

Until now its been

Minae's Back to School series! ♥ Part 2: 10 Things I learnt at High School!

Thursday, 18 September 2014

Long time no see!
Been really busy with A-levels, I didn't realize the jump from GCSE to AS was so huge lmao so I'm just trying to catch up which is why I missed a few days of blogging. Also because I was too busy playing Destiny on my PS3 (PSN ID: minaekei) so I apologize for that! xD

Onto the post~ Since finishing High School (or for Britain, we call it Secondary School) I feel like I've gained quiet a bit of knowledge of how to survive school and end on a happy note without any regrets. I know there are a hell of a lot of blog posts and inspirational tumblr pages with similar things to what I may be saying here, but I really wanted to pass down to anyone reading this who may still be in school. ^^

1) Getting to School on time is something that I struggled to do during my first few years of school, and no matter how hard I tried or how many alarms I put on my phone and clock, I still couldn't wake up in time for my first class at 8:30am. My school always had a system where If you came to school late, they would give you 1 hour detention's after school, so while your friends go off for a coffee or shopping, you'd have to miss out and write lines and listen to the teacher complaining about how tardy you are. Harsh right? Because of things like this I tried extra hard to get to school on time (or even better, 10 minutes before class!), and I realized that by doing that, I was able to understand the lesson better than I did when I came in 5-10 minutes late, and I felt a lot more refreshed at the end of the day because I knew I wouldn't have to stay in detention xD

2) Grades aren't everything, but trying to achieve the best grades really is the best thing you can do with your time in school. If you have spare time or a free period, finish some homework. If you didn't understand a certain topic in your last lesson, so some self research and a few past papers until you get the basics. Simple 5 question homework will help you with revision, so try not to slack off. I did that a lot during one year and my grades dropped a lot because of it. I was able to pick myself up eventually, but I felt like I would have done better in my exams if I didn't slack with the simple homework's given.

3) Asking and Listening to your teachers will benefit you in your final years. As annoying as they may be, teachers are only there to help you. Take advantage of that, piss them off with countless questions if you don't understand the work. They might be annoyed at you at that moment, but when you pass with flying colors because of all those questions you asked, they'll be laughing because of that pay raise they'll get. (If you didn't know, teachers pay rates are effected by their staff position and students final exam results!)

4) Revision is essential when it comes to memorizing your work for exams. Don't sit there thinking "I have months until the exams come close, I'll revise around April so I'll be ready for the June/July exams". Revise as soon as possible, it will help you. Take notes, LOTS OF THEM. Try note taking on a daily basis during lessons, it helps you remember them easily. Try getting into a revision group with peers who you know will actually help you revise (and not pretend to revise while you simultaneously watch netflix). Tell off your parents and siblings when they're being too loud for you to concentrate. Just revise as much as you can.

5) Join a club and volunteer once in a while. One thing I regret not doing enough was volunteering and sticking to clubs. I used the be in the cheer-leading squad, basketball team, tennis club, dance club, the school band, school council and many others, but I only really stayed committed to one of them (Dance). I barely volunteered until my last year of school but by then it was too late because I had to prepare for exams. Experiences like these can really make you as a person grow, and you can help other people as well. If you're scared of public speaking or something similar, I still urge you to try it out because I had really bad anxiety when it came to public speaking, and even today I can barely do it without shaking and stuttering, but getting involved in what your school has to offer can give you lots of opportunities that you might not be able to have the chance to do again, so go for it!

6) Rejection hurts. I got rejected from a lot of positions a lot of times during my school years, and it really really sucks. It's a hard thing to overcome when you're rejected from something you love doing, want to try out, or truly believe you can do that specific position, but failure is the key to success. I don't even need to give examples of people who have failed yet are big today because there are so many examples of people around the world who have been rejected but have gotten back up, poured water onto their wounds and tried again, getting bruised countless times until they finally got to where they are today. Here is one example though. Walt Disney.

7) Try not to involve yourself in arguments. This is literally the most childish thing you could do during your time at school, and it truly is a waste of time. I never got into any fights or arguments in school because I liked to just walk away mumbling under my breath about what an idiot they were then moving on instead of saying it to their faces. xD I used to see people spending their time arguing with girls they didn't like, and getting into verbal and physical fights with them. It often ended in suspension, which means no time to hang out with friends or no understanding of the topic your class is learning (because you're suspended lol). It's honestly something that shouldn't be worth your precious time and energy so if someone says shit about you that pisses you off, let it go (LET IT GOO~) or hold it in until you get home so you can take it out on the enemies on a game xD

8) Learn to take a break. This one might seem contradictory after all my talk about revising as much as you possibly can, but breaks are really important for the brain. You're brain stops taking in information after about half an hours work (which is usually why teacher will try to spend the first half of the hour explaining before letting the class go into practicals and self work) and will stay that way until you give yourself a break. It doesn't have to be long, 5 minutes is okay, just take one whenever you see fit to ensure you don't max yourself out and pass out from exhaustion.

9) Friends are great, but popularity isn't everything. I know too many people who thought more about their status in the school than their grades, and they were often seen as the "popular" kids. needless to say, these girls didn't actually try to work hard in their studies, they would copy peoples homework, having no understanding of the topics, talk during classes, never revise (because going on facebook was just too tempting for them to resist), and just flat out missed the whole point of school. It's great to have friends of course, but don't let popularity get to your head so much that you start craving the attention. Focus on your grades because trust me when you're the one posting on facebook saying "I got - - A* (A+), and - - A's, they'll all be looking at you thinking, "damn s/he's cool".

10) Try to enjoy it. School isn't the best place in the world, we all know that, but it can have some enjoyable moments. Try to treasure the fun moments you have with your friends, a humorous lesson with your favorite teacher, seeing something that was mean yet funny. Go to events like Prom, or trips like Outward Bound and The Challenge, or out of the country if your school allows those types of trips. Honestly try to enjoy as much of your time there as you can because who wants to leave a place with bad memories? Your parents aren't lying when they say that High School, College and Uni life will be the best times of your life.

And that's about it! I hope you enjoyed this part of the School series and again, Sorry that it's so delayed!, I'll get this series done by the end of this month, PROMISE!

Next up on the series: What's in my school bag?

Message + Future Cosplay Idea's!

Wednesday, 10 September 2014

Hello people!

*Before I continue I wanted to apologize for the lack of updates. I was going to upload a new post on the 2nd Sept, but after hearing about the situation with Ladies Code and Eunbi and Risae's death, I wasn't feeling up to updating. Ladies Code was a girl group that I hoped would be a super popular new generation group along with Apink, Girls Day and Red Velvet. This situation is such a tragedy and I've been feeling a lot of emotions and bad nostalgia these last few days because of it. I wish that Eunbi and Risae went to a great place and that Sojung, Ashley and Zuni recover from their injuries and trauma. I wish the absolute best for the remaining members.

As much as putting seat belts on annoys the crap out of us, I honestly cannot stress this enough, please please PLEASE wear a seat belt when you're in any vehicle that contains them. They're there for a reason, to keep you alive when accidents like this happen.

To those of you who do read my blog, or those who have just happened to come across this blog, I want to thank you for just being alive, whoever you are. Eunbi and Risae was not able to reach the rest of her hopes and dreams, so be thankful that you're all alive and well enough to be able to chase yours, whether your dream is to be a singer, a lawyer, a doctor or a stylist. I hope that you guys cherish every day that you live~

Rest in Peace Eunbi and Risae ♥

Now, onto the original post!

I've been gone for a while, sorry about that, I've been busy enrolling for college so I haven't had time to write anything up until today! I'll do better next time haha~ Today I will be talking about a few cosplay idea's I've got in mind.

Cosplay is, in short, the act of dressing up as a fictional character, whether for a job or simply because you enjoy being a character you like. I for one am the latter, and I like dressing up as characters from anime or games that I enjoy. Depending on the cosplay I will buy it or make it myself. I usually attend the MCM London Expo which is in the last weekend of May and October respectively, and because the shipping estimated times for cosplay and material are really slow (about a month of so if you're lucky), I write up a list of possible cosplay and buy it around the end of august so that I can make it to my house in time for the October Expo. So here are a bunch of characters that I've been thinking about cosplaying!

Serena (POKEMON X & Y)

This is a simple cosplay that I've pretty much already completed! Serena from Pokemon, a Pokemon Trainer in the Anime and the Default female trainer in Pokemon X and Y! I first saw this character in the game and wanted to cosplay her outfit from the moment I saw it. It's such a simple outfit that doesn't look out of the ordinary, so you don't even need to use it for cosplay alone, You can wear this cosplay on a general day at school or on the weekends!

Super Sonico

Sonico has to be the cutest girl I've ever seen?!
Words cannot describe how much I love this girl, and I've found myself wanting to collect as many figurines as I possibly can afford to of her's xD This particular photo shows her exact outfit that I want to cosplay. Sonico has a lot of outfits that are quite revealing so it was hard to pick one that I loved which was in my comfort zone that I actually loved but this one is my all time favorite outfit of her's and it's pretty easy to make without actually having to buy material, I could literally use things I have in my wardrobe for this! This will probably be an outfit I would wear for when I'm looking to buy things inside the EXPO stalls hall.

Iris (POKEMON)

Iris is another character from Pokemon that I wanted to cosplay. Not her basic trainer outfit though, instead its her Pokemon Master outfit! I really love how princess-y it looks compared to her general outfit, and our skin tones are quite similar (not that it really matters, you can cosplay anyone you want regardless of your skin tone!!) so it would easier for onlookers to recognize who I'm cosplaying. Iris is actually a character that I'm conflicted with because I love her in the Game, but I can't stand her in the Anime! When she talks to ash and says "ugh, you're such a kid!" despite being one herself, it reaaaallllyyyy annoys the hell outta me. xD

Valerie (POKEMON X & Y)

Valerie is yet another Pokemon character that I really want to cosplay. She also appears in Pokemon X and Y, and she is my favorite Gym Leader out of all the the gym leaders in this games series. Her style is absolutely fab! I love literally every detail about her outfit so I couldn't help but put this on my list of cosplay idea's. One point that I love the most about her outfit is the sleeves. It elongates past the hands, and the details on the sleeves makes them look like wings! She literally screams Fairy/Mystic type ^^

Shiro (No Game No Life)

ISN'T SHE CUTE?!
For me, her being cute is reason enough to want to cosplay her. She was so adorable in the anime yet so smart and tactical too. Her style is simple yet cute and her hair is beautiful! Honestly when I see her, this is how I wish to be (cute, doesn't talk much, ace's every game she plays), so cosplaying her is a little step close to that wish! Her sailor uniform makes her look a lot cuter too.

Ichigo (Tokyo Mew Mew)

Do I even have to explain this one? Ichigo is my favorite magical girl of all time! Tokyo Mew mew is the reason why I got into magical girl anime (and anime in general) in the first place, so she holds a special place in my heart. Everything about her reminded me of myself and the one thing that she always managed to do no matter how difficult, was to never give up (which is something I do a lot..).
Her outfit is also my favorite out of all the Mew Mew's because its so pink and puffy aha~
Cosplaying her is a dream in the making as I've been slowly making progress on the dress!

Sinon (GGO/SAO II)

Sinon is actually a new addition to the list. I wasn't too fond of her in the manga of GGO (and to be honest, I'm really fond of the manga series in general), but i really love the way they portrayed her in the anime. She's such a fighter which is a personality I love to see in girls like her. Her outfit is quiet revealing for me but sometimes I like to be taken out of my comfort zone. I probably won't be doing this cosplay any time this year, but maybe next year October when I have enough money to create her sniper and hand gun.

Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Ahhh, This is a cosplay that I MUST MUST MUST do at least once in my life!
Azula is my all time favorite villain (Yes, she even beats the likes of Loki and Sephiroth!)
I loved her story line so much, and although I can't say it relates to me, I can sympathize with her a lot in many aspects. When you're really good at something you can't help but want to improve at it until you're at you're peak, and sometimes you tend to neglect others around you. That's one thing that Azula did that reminded me of myself a while back. I'm not a psychopath like she was, though.

Her outfits are all amazing but my favorite one has to be her final outfit (Series 3), where she battles Zuko in a Agni Kai. The detail is very simple yet stylish. I loved how crazy Azula had her hair down, so when I cosplay her I will do that as well, instead of wearing the hair in a bun.

And that's it!
Hopefully I will be able to cosplay all of these characters some time in the future. Some I may have to buy and other I will make, but it will take a while because I'm starting College soon! So far my CON attendance line-up will be;

EGX London September 2014

Saturday - Serena (Pokemon X)

London MCM Expo October 2014

Friday - Kashiwagi Yuki (AKB0048)
Saturday - Azula (ATLA)
Sunday - Serena (Pokemon X)

Hyper Japan 2015

Friday - Undecided
Saturday - Ichigo Mew (Tokyo Mew Mew)
Sunday - Super Sonico

I have a question, Who would you cosplay if you had the chance to? Send me a reply down in the comments section!

That's all for now, thank you for reading, and again, sorry for the late update!
